Our company began as a sort of "Mom and Pop Rest Home" in Randolph County, North Carolina. At that time, county commissioners were seeking a couple to efficiently operate Randolph Rest Home in Asheboro. Arthur Vernon "Cap" Burrow and Mabel Burrow were chosen for the responsibility of overseeing the daily lives of 31 persons with developmental disabilities and mental illness. Mr. and Mrs. Burrow recognized and graciously accepted the assignment as the mission for which they had been waiting. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Burrow grew up in the home and developed relationships with the residents. As the children matured, they became responsible for primary health or mental health appointments with the residents. They sat up during the night with people who were ill as well as cooked, cleaned and provided personal care. It was only natural that the children of Mr. and Mrs. Burrow would later assume the full responsibility of the business. Leading Therapeutic Alternatives, Inc today are second generation Administrator Kenny Burrow and third generation Administrator Dean Wilson. The company has grown tremendously, and the administrators have appointed several qualified mental health professionals to assist with facilitating a continuous quality improvement process that involves all employees in decision-making and ensuring that the company continues on its original foundational blocks: individual choices, homelike atmospheres and community involvement. Our mission is to deliver comprehensive human services that empower people to achieve their goals in life. Our service philosophy is to provide person-centered services to the people we support and their families. Since the company's inception in 1958, we have remained committed to facilitating a continuous quality improvement process that involves all employees, people supported and community partners in decision making and ensuring Therapeutic Alternatives, Inc continues on its original foundation blocks: individual choices, homelike atmospheres and community involvement. Our vision is to ensure people receive individualized support, based on their needs and preferences and to advocate for a world of inclusion and choice for all people.
